Simple Church (2 of 2)

The book Simple Church I just referred to was 272 pages long. I have not read it. But if I had written it, I think this would be the entirety:

About the author: Dave's a pretty simple guy.

From the publisher: Enjoy the book. Oh, and there's no copyright. We know that's unusual for a powerful publishing company like us, but we're trying to keep this simple.

Introduction: A simple church is a group of Christians organized according to the New Testament and obeying the commands of Jesus. This book is about how to start a simple church.

Chapter 1: Pray.

Chapter 2: Meet some people.

Chapter 3: Tell them about Jesus.

Chapter 4: Call them to repentance and faith.

Chapter 5: Gather with them and other disciples to teach them to observe all the things Christ taught us.

Chapter 6: Send a bunch of them out to repeat this process.

Blurbs on the back of the book:
  • John Piper ~ "Savored it."
  • John MacArthur ~ "Exegetically sound."
  • Mark Dever ~ "The Xth Mark."
  • Joel Osteen ~ "I dunno, pretty deep."

This was even better than the first post! How we complicate things while trying to "simplify" them! It really isn't complicated. It is serious, no doubt. But not complicated. Obedience, that is all. This is why I like George Patterson so much (He didn't go off the deep end usually. He simply talked of obedience. If obedience ends in a building, fine. If in a house, fine.). I enjoyed your book! Keep writing!

RFLOL--especially the Osteen endorsement: spot on!

I assume chapter 5 will be the longest. And the least simple.

Interestingly enought the authors of Simple Church are the President of Lifeway and an Executive Pastor of a megachuch!

As someone already said... the endorsements are great. And the rest sounds strikingly similar to the NT model...
